Great pubs in walking distance
In the village
Our village hosts a Michelin starred restaurant, The Whitebrook. It’s on the doorstep – follow the Whitebrook stream through the woods for a truly memorable, stylish dining experience.
A walk through the woods
Walk half an hour through mixed woodland to reach The Lion Inn at Trellech. The pub dates from the 16th Century and a roaring fire in winter and beer garden in the summer await you. Great for family meals, traditional ales and village atmosphere.
Along the lanes
Take the path alongside our orchard to reach The Pig and Apple at Humble by Nature in 40 minutes walk, for mountainous burgers and irresistible puds (we love the dime bar cheesecake). It is located on Kate Humble’s working farm that offers a range of rural skills courses. Alternatively, thirty minutes walk along the lanes, is The Bush, a friendly local pub with great food and a fun atmosphere.
By the River
A wonderful 6 mile loop to The Boat Inn takes you down by the Whitebrook steam, along the River Wye tow path and back up through the woods. There’s real ales and ciders from the local region, famous for its orchards. Sit outside on the bank of the River Wye, or inside by the fire. Regular live music. In the same village (Redbrook) there’s The Bell pub for more live music and good food, plus a well stocked village shop.
